Digital print laminated to aluminum structure with raised graphics
The Staples Center Arena
The Staples Center Arena project in Los Angeles featured numerous large and small sign configurations, background murals, and illuminated sponsor displays throughout the facilities.
Shown below right are the mural and illuminated units used to display sponsor material. The twelve background murals (5′-0″w x 14′-0″h) were produced via large format digital imaging and the twenty-four illuminated display cabinets (4′-0″ x 6′-0″) and the digital images were produced at Vomar facilities.
Graphic Design: Communication Arts
General Contractor: PCL
Shown above and below are typical of the many directional and identity markers which utilized digital imaging for all graphics. This method enabled the designers, Communication Arts, Inc, to obtain greater detail and durability than with traditional processes such as silk screening. These digital graphics were then laminated to aluminum sign panels and structures.
